::: Fantagraphics needs help!

Got back for a nice night at the Jam to receive this dark news.

Like many in the comics biz as of late, Fantagraphics is taking their turn on the cliffs edge dangling over economic doom this month. The ground breaking publisher is in dire financial trouble. This press release explains the details but it comes down to this. In order to say alive in their current configuration they need to move $80.000 worth of stock THIS MONTH, IN ADDITION to their usual business. So, if there is some book(s) published by Fantagraphics that you have been meaning to get, now's the time to get it. Ideally order it directly from them so there is no middle man and they make the most of the cover price.

This - a last ditch plea for direct orders by a publisher - worked for Top Shelf back when their mutual former, now bankrupt book trade distributor went under leaving them in the same situation. Fanta managed to stave the sharks off at the time, but a second spot of bad luck has put them in the same position.

So drop buy there site, check out the online catalogue and buy a few books, pick up enough of em' and you might even get a personal thank you from publisher Gary Groth (see the press release for how)

Bad news care of the grape vine.
