Next Jam and other news from the Jam's High Priestess, Jane

Hello to All!

There will be a MTL Comix Jam this January, most likely on the last Sunday afternoon of the month. For the location there are two possible venues where it can be held namely the Casa del Popolo or The Pharmacie Espéranza corner St-Viateur and St-Laurent (a few steps from Billy Maveras' shop Monastiraki). I wish to leave you the choice of the venue, and the rule of majority of vote will decide. But please, let me know your choice before Monday the 10th of January [to vote you must be a member of the MMCJ news group]. After this deadline, I will have no other choice, due to booking limitations, to make a decision on where to hold the Jam.

Other news, Olivier Charbonneau is thinking of seeking a subsidy from the Arts Council of Canada. He wishes to publish an anthology of the works produced during the last jams held through the years. The project is still in the air and Olivier may ask your help after he comes back from the Angoulême festival. At this time, I may call the jammers for a extraordinary meeting so we can get more infos from Olivier. Moreover, if you have some good works in black and white hidden in your pantries, don't throw it away since Olivier is also looking for some pictures of comix to put in his upcoming book on comix in Quebec. It may be a good opportunity to increase our visibility as comic book artists.

Finally, a sad news: The "OrsonWelles" (dixit Neil Gaiman) of the Comix world, Will Eisner died last Monday after a heart bypass in Florida. Another Giant is now gone.:(

So this is it, and

Happy New Year to everyone!

Jane

Jam's High Priestess

Jane
