Prix Bedelys

Bedelys 2005

One of the two big awards for comics in Quebec, the Prix Bedelys were handed out last week (April 3). Pascal Blanchet's "La Fugue" won the Prix Bedelys Quebec for home-grown bande dessinee. The reissue of "Michel Risque" also received a special award.
The winners: Bedelys d'Or 2005-Corporation des Bibliothecaires du Quebec - L'aigle sans orteil, by Lax (Editions Dupuis)
Bedelys Jeunesse 2005-Ville de Montreal - Mortebouse (Lou T.2), Neel (Glenat)
Bedelys Quebec 2005-Association des Libraires du Quebec - La Fugue, by Pascal Blanchet (La Pasteque)

Special Jury Prize) - Michel Risque by Pierre Fournier and Real Godbout (La Pasteque).
The awards are given out by an organization called Promo 9e Art (details at their site).

Expozine
As well, the first annual Prix Expozine, a new prize associated with the travelling alternative press event, were handed out on March 22 (!) and included prizes for one French-language and one English-language comic book.
Best Comic (English) -ojingogo by Matthew Forsythe (also nomiated for an Eisner for best digital)
Best Comic (French) -Haseimester by Frederic Mahieu
