Summer Reading ![]() The First Annual Sequential Summer Reading Survey Dear Sequential Readers, During the last month of the summer, Sequential plans to run a series of summer reading lists. In a shameless effort at "content generation," we would love it if you could take a moment and reply to our short list of questions below --just tell us a little bit about who you are and what you are currently interested in, books-wise. Always remember, Sequential is the only (mostly-) daily newsblog about Canadian comics publishing and culture and a great way to promote your latest project, not to mention recommend a good book. The Survey 1. Name/occupation (contact info/website/publisher's website). 2. What is your latest project (ie, what are you hyping)? 3. Please provide a list of books you have recently read or are planning to read. They don't have to be comic books. (In fact, we would almost prefer they weren't, you know, to show how erudite and worldly comics fans are, and stuff.) Any number of books is fine. Please feel free to comment (ie, Why are you reading these books? What did you think?). 4. Any upcoming events/upcoming publications? What is your next project? Your answers will hopefully be published in their entirety on Sequential (unedited) over the coming months, depending on number of replies. Thanks again! 2 Comments:
1. Mel Friesen, Webcomicker in Richmond, BC. http://studiosketchy.com/.
2. My webcomic, Studio Sketchy.
3. Bone, by Jeff Smith: So cute!
Monstrous Regiment, Night Watch, and Making Money, by Terry Pratchett. One of my favorite all-time authors. Ridiculous, hilarious, sometimes darks, and somehow always so true.
Watchmen, By Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. Dreary, but well done.
Diamond Age, by Neal Stephenson. Because I really wish I had my own Young Lady's Illustrated Primer.
Small Favor, by Jim Butcher. Because I want to know what happens next.
4. Next project? A decent illustrator's portfolio.
Thanks Mel! I've added an email link in the original post so these lists don't get lost in the comments!
