You can read Dream Life on Transmission X! I’ve joined the gang officially! Been talking to the guys about it for a long time, and in the end it was a natural fit. I actually know most of them and live in Montreal and hail from Toronto, the base cities of the collective. Never manage to make it work but tried to start working in the Montreal Studio once. Mostly it’s just too far from my house to be practical daily. Anyway, wanted to make the jump for a bit. Both TX and act-I-vate, who i talked about joining up with at different times said ‘yep sure, just be ready to post weekly!’

Totally reasonable demand, I’m supper cautious, and this being a first real stake in web comics proper i didn’t want to mess it up. So I held back till i had enough of the story done to post on my own for a few months twice weekly without fail, felt like i was ready for it after that. :) Going in with a two month lead still, fingers crossed!

This site will stay active too, I’ve re branded it as an incarnation of a general personal anthology project of mine from 2004. New comics will appear here on the same twice weekly schedule, along with old stuff that’s not been seen in a  while or in color or stuff like that. First few will be stories from the original print editions of RevolveR, & work i did in other anthologies in the recent past. I’ll include links to the days page of Dream Life as well.

Hey, not had time to formulate a post for this, right now busy inking some up coming pages for this. So this and the next are key set up pages as you might imagine, for PJ’s story line. What she goes through from this point on hinges on this.

Ok, getting back to work. Hope your enjoying this, and don’t forget to check out the rise and fall of it all as well, posted here on the fabler site. If you can join up there and vote for your favorite comics, I’m in the running for a cintiq-21ux if enough people like my work, and i can get the next ten pages of it done in time for my birthday, September the 15th, which happens to be the contest deadline as well. :)

Sorry my regular Saturday readers, you’ll have to wait until 2010/07/17 to see what happened!

But if i may point out a link; i’m putting an old project i’ve been meaning to get re-booted online at the Fabler as an entry for a contest there. Will be adding 10 new pages between now and September to it. That will let me qualify for the contest and i hope help get me moving towards completing this short graphic novel. It’s only about 100 pages in full. If the fabler site is successful, eventually i hope to make use the Printing service they plan too! So hey, if you could join the site and vote for the rise and fall of it all please.

I’ll post here when new pages go up, there are 4 last time looked, up to 15 will come online shortly, updates for the new 10 to come.

There will be closer shots posted over the next two days. In print this is a two page spread of course. So you'll be able to see the detail those are for easily. I started playing with the idea of frames in frames a while ago. I really like how this one came out in Pin City. I recall images like this.

Common around the house i grew up in, so being an early impressions. It's an interesting use of a kind of magic realism for me.

I just rediscovered Charles Burchfield. He was the subject of the latest James Kalm report, and a retrospective at the WHITNEY in NY…

He’s a really interesting painter, i like his use of almost symbolic forms to represent movement, sounds, and the unseen. But looking around i was also really taken with his depiction of urbanism. And he took his time. I appreciate that.

The pets in the letter, meant it to be a sort of institutional graphic, so it's not exactly what i set out to do. But i loved their weirdness. Left them as done the first draft.
Was considering the plausibility of the letter, hand written. A bit informal. I think i decided the vet was more invested in this than you might at first think. I've come to know my vet really well in fact. He's got a hot tub.

Ty posted a pinup of Pacifica done for Heroes of the North, the web series featuring Canadian superheroes. Pacifica is a speedster, like the Flash. He also had a really interesting entry for his last Saturday Morning Bun-toons, check it out.

Hey All! Updating wordpress somehow i screwed up the code for the page, the page wrapper is not working right and nothing i’ve tried yet has fixed it. no time to deal with it more right now so if this is giving you grief go to. Well there’s an excuse to redesign a site. The code changed enough whatever bit of blind monkey-ary i hacked in the first version stopped working! So new look for the re branding. Still need to work out how to get the page to not brake when it gets too narrow, stay at a minimum fixed width. But for now, it seems to be working.

Kalie needs a job, but how bad does she really want it? | A mystic, anarchic, impulsive girl. Kalie’s big on rejecting and self defining. Whatever it is she’d rather the alternative to it. Back when they were all kids she was a choir girl and relished the priests favor. Still vary high minded but also with all that rejecting, things get a bit confusing sometimes. She’s the red haired girl Charles once obsessed over in grade school. It was quite one sided, went on for 5 years, there was restraining orders and everything.

Everyone has moved on and Charlie grew up a lot. But it was memorable. Lionel Charlie’s best friend always liked her but with the thing with Charle and all, nothing ever came of it. Had he asked her out though, she’d have said yes.

All grown up now, not yet wise but hot and witchy, she’s looking for a way out of the inevitable routine of a call center job or something.

Leslie Van Horn Hates her job. | Leslie and Lionel are siblings, her little brother is Charlie’s buddy, and she’s been a big sister to both of them for years. Lately she’s also Charlie’s unofficial therapist. Or maybe bully. She’s not sure which. She drives a vintage Jaguar that she grooms and keeps like a pet. She has a nice upscale condo box full of nice condo box stuff, a psychology practice and a position at the premier psychiatric hospital in the city. Oh and there’s a sideline in dealing soft drugs and hallucinogenics for kicks. Yeah that’s going well. Leslie is unwilling to admit she can’t do everything – have her cake, and seconds, with a nice scotch after that. But really, she’s not sure she wants any of it…. and there are those romantic dreams of writing prose….
