06.Jul.2012 Mystery Solved, or, What If One of Your Favourite Cartoonists Designed a Barber Shop?
Residents of Guelph, Ontario have been treated to the mysterious image of this jolly fellow for the last month or so, popping up all over town and in a clever, classy series of banner-style print ads in local media. In the ads the little king’s head would just float there in white space or there might be a question, like “Who is this?” Very mysterious.
Then yesterday all was revealed in another ad. The little fellow is the logo for a new barber shop. Crown Barber Shop is the new home-base of Guelph barber Tania Gallant, and it opens tomorrow. A cuter, classier little shop I could not imagine. Of course, Tania happens to be the wife of cartoonist (and friend to Sequential) Seth, who is the artist behind the monocled king and the designer of the new shop and the mysterious series of teaser ads. All part of Seth’s master plan to turn his adopted hometown of Guelph into a version of his fictional comic book city Dominion, I’m sure. Anyway, congrats to Tania on her grand opening!
