Canadian Superhero Comic Seeks $20 Thousand via Indiegogo

The J. Torres-edited comics anthology devoted to new creator-owned superhero characters with a Canadian nationalist theme, True Patriot, has launched a fundraising campaign using the Indiegogo crowd-funding website. Billed as a 100-page, full-colour book featuring stories by Adrian Alpona, Andy B., J. Bone, Jack Briglio, Scott Chantler, Tom Fowler, Agnes Garbowska, Faith Erin Hicks, Tim Levins, Ramon Perez, Ron Salas, Jay Stephens, J. Torres, and Howard Wong, True Patriot is seeking $20,000 for printing, shipping, subscriber perks, fees, and what is called “a small honorarium” for creators (planned to increase along with funding). A variety of sketchbooks and personalized portfolio are being offered as perks to subscribers.
The perk for me would be just seeing new comics work by the likes of Jay Stephens (who provides a cover and the adventures of his character Arrowhead) and Faith Erin Hicks (a new Superhero Girl story). It looks like a fun project and one of the more accessible takes on this sort of genre material I’ve seen in awhile.
